Name of the Course: Master in Medical Education (MMEd)

Objective of the Course -

 

The objective of the course is to help the teachers in medical and allied health professions by providing and strengthening knowledge and skills in:

§   pedagogic area;

§   Curriculum planning, teaching and learning, different assessment systems and development of effective instructional materials;

§   Research methodology,

§   Conducting research in medical education and its related fields

 

           

The course will thus help to produce skilled manpower for teaching and research in the medical field.

 

Duration of the Course

            The course duration is full two (2) years.

 

Session of the Course

             July to June

 

Venue of the Course

            The course is being conducted at the Centre for Medical Education (CME), NHL & DC Building (3rd Floor), Mohakhali, Dhaka.

 

Pre-requisite for admission

            For admission to this course the candidates should have :

a)         Obtained from any recognized University, the degree of MBBS or its equivalent registered by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.

                                                            and

            completed one year in service training/internship training

                                                            and

            served for at least one year in any health institute as a teacher.

                                                            or

b)         Obtained from any recognized university, the degree of a dental surgeon (BDS) or Masters in any field of social or biological sciences.

                                                            and

            completed one year in service training/ internship training

                                                            and

            served for at least two years in any health institute as a teacher

 

Procedure of Admission

            This course is open to all teachers working in government or private institutes. All applicants shall have to appear for an admission test, which will include a written examination. Selection of candidates shall be on the basis of performance in written test. Nominees of international funding agencies may be admitted by the competent authority, if found suitable.

 

            Admission to Part -II of the course will be allowed to candidates who have passed the preceding part-I within past 2 years from the date of the session applied for readmission.

 

Number of Seats

            A total of 15 positions are available at present for this MMEd course, 10 for local candidates (Government and /or private) and 5 for overseas candidates.

 

Tuition fees for the Course

§          Course fee is TK. 15000 (Taka Fifteen Thousand) only for local candidates.

§          Students from countries other than Bangladesh have to pay tuition fee in foreign currency, at a rate of US $ 1000 and other institutional charges of US $ 500.

§          In addition TK.1000 (Taka One Thousand) has to be deposited by each student as security money. This money is refundable at the end of the final examination of the candidate.

§          Graduates of universities other than Dhaka University require paying registration fees as per Dhaka University rules.

 

 

10.              The Course Structure

            The Course of Masters in Medical Education (MMEd) consists of two parts (40 + 60 = 100 credits).
